It’s time to narrow down our week 3 player pool. I’ve written my initial thoughts article and Ian, and I have conducted our weekly podcast, and my views have changed to a degree since the pod cast. I do have the write to change my mind from the podcast especially with what occurred moments before recording the cast.
It’s a funny story and if you want to skip it and get to the advice I understand but for those that listened to the pod cast things will start to make sense. On Thursday morning I was off my game for most of the cast, I sounded very unsure of myself and quite frankly I just wasn’t my best but there was a reason. Draw up this mental picture. I drop my son off to school and try to get to a quiet place in the house to record. As recommended at the close of the podcast I have my notes written out so that I’m prepared and then it happens. Allow me to introduce you to my dog Romeo. A little Yorkie that lives to play and decided to grab my cheat sheet, imagine trying to do a podcast with no notes not fun, so although it was absolutely hysterical situation as u try to chase him around the house to retrieve my notes so I want to make up for it with this article.
Let’s get started
Quarterbacks all about the mid tier for me
Derek Carr $8100
I think he gets overlooked in this spot . Is Tennessee really that great defending the pass. I don’t think so having researched some of the game against the lions if not for some penalties that negated touchdowns Matthew Stafford would have had a much better stat line and the outcome of the game could have been different
Phillip Rivers $8000
This game has shootout written all over it and should be played at a very fast pace. Colts defense is rated 25th vs the pass. Rivers can be used as a stand alone or part of a stack
Joe Flacco $7600/ Blake Bortles $7900
I’ll group these two together weather dependent . Both teams love to pass and both teams can’t run the ball. This game could be a shootout.
Extreme blowout risk could cap his upside in his matchup vs Cleveland
Running back I intend to pay up here
De Angelo Williams $8800
Leveon Bell will be back next week expect Williams to get up to 35 touches in this game
Matt Forte $7500
Monitor his health , if a full go he is Mr. do everything for the Jets. In addition the coaching staff has no intention on limiting his targets and touches.
Ezekiel Elliot $8100
Love this matchup vs a decimated Bears defense. Elliot has 100 yard 2 touchdown upside in this matchup
Demarco Murray $7700
Change of scenery has done him well. He has averaged 19 fan duel points through 2 games and has been targeted 7 times each game raising his floor
Kind of sort of but not really
Melvin Gordon $7100
I may be wrong but I think this game becomes a very pass happy affair and the signing of Dexter Mccluster could limit his involvement in the passing game. I may still change my mind as I like the guys above much more but if salary cap become an issue and I need the savings I’ll use him
Wide Receiver love the mid tier
Amari Cooper $7900
Great correlation play with David Carr and averaging 10 targets per game. Could also be overlooked at this price point
Travis Benjamin $6900
Great pair with Phillip Rivers. Should get a ton of targets. Now running short and deep routes. Raise his targets and red zone involvement if Antonio Gates sits.
Sterling Shepard $6500
Odell Beckham gets the Josh Norman treatment . Many people will deploy Stefan Diggs for a $100 cheaper. Shepard is second in the league with a 11 receptions in the slot and gets a great matchup.
Larry Fitzgerald $7600
Most targeted wide receiver in the NFL for red zone work. Already has 3 touchdowns in 2 weeks deploy him while his legs are fresh
Antonio Brown $9500
Not a must play but if you have the salary use him . No one is more consistent than Brown and he may go under owned this week
Allen Robinson $7900
Target monster in a fast paced game . Look for him to get right vs a weak Baltimore secondary
Will be highly owned in tournaments but viable for cash.
Tight ends only 3 considerations for me
Jordan Reed $7500
Giants stuff the run and their corners are playing well. They are having trouble defending the middle of the field. Last year Reed are up the Giants to the tune of 14 receptions and 194 yards. My number one tight end on the slate
Delanie Walker $6900
Rather pay up for Reed as there are injury concerns here. The raiders however have been very vulnerable vs the pass and if Walker is a full go is a great play
Dennis pita $5000
More exposure to Jacksonville and Baltimore. Next to Jordan Reed no other tight end has been targeted as much as pita
Antonio gates just not healthy and if he plays will he be effective
Defenses don’t overthink this
Chalk pick vs Cleveland we don’t need to discuss this right
Pivot off of Miami same reasons as above
Great matchup vs the 49ers but that price is tough to swallow
Whoever fits preferably a game with a high total and in a dome
