Last week our Budget Baller, Kyle Korver, awoke from his hibernation to put up some numbers that were actually worthy of being in a fantasy lineup! I guess all he needed was my encouragement. You’re welcome, Mr. Korver. In his last three games, Korver averaged 5.93 points per 1,000 fantasy dollars. Cha-ching!
With our confidence in shooters now restored, we’re going to turn to another marksman this week. Wesley Matthews has spent much of the season flying under the radar along with his new Mavericks teammates. From a daily fantasy perspective, however, Matthews has emerged as a consistent value over the past month. In his nine games since February 9th, Matthews has scored more than five points per 1,000 fantasy dollars seven times. Over that span, Matthews is giving fantasy owners an average return of 5.33 points per $1,000. If you’re new to the Baller On A Budget game, 5 points per $1,000 is always our goal, so Matthews consistent production over the past month makes him a ideal. Outside of pure production, Matthews has another asset we’re always searching for: minutes. In the aforementioned nine game stretch, Matthews has only logged under 30 minutes twice. So even if Matthews goes ice cold from the field, he should still be on the court for long enough to salvage his fantasy line.
