If you took my advice from last week, I hope you also consulted an injury report. Apparently, Kevin Martin picked up a pretty vicious paper cut when reading my article and had to miss the bulk of the week. If you didn’t forsake K-Mart for forever (like I may have), he did deliver the fantasy production we expected with his 22.5 point performance Sunday in only 18 minutes of game time.
As we enter Christmas week, we will focus on one of the bearded one’s unsung helpers. Obviously I’m talking about Patrick Beverly, who goes largely overlooked playing in the shadow of the best beard this side of the North Pole. Wait, did you think I was talking about someone else? Anyway, throughout his career, defense and grit has been Beverly’s calling card. Whether it has been an emphasis from Coach Bickerstaff, or if it is just the magic of December, Beverly has added scoring to his well-rounded play. Beverly has scored in double digits in eight of his ten December games. Over that span, Beverly is averaging 21.4 fantasy points. With scoring now accompanying his always consistent effort and all-around impact, Beverly has a high floor to go with his low $4,200 price tag. At over five points per $1,000 spent, you can eschew the bearded one and choose Beverly to be your lineup’s stocking stuffer.
Happy Holidays!
